Harford Family House is celebrating its 24th anniversary. Our one-year program offers case management services and referrals to partner agencies for GED classes, job readiness, financial literacy and mental and physical health care. HFH offers a hand-up to families, mostly mothers with children, who are willing to work hard to get their lives back on track. Our goal is to create real and lasting change in the lives of our client families, transitioning them from homelessness and hopelessness to hope and permanent stable housing.

Since 1978, SARC has been a life saving resource for victims of domestic violence, child abuse, sexual violence, and stalking. Staff and community volunteers answer a 24-hour confidential helpline. It is through this helpline that victims and their children, fleeing from dangerous domestic violence situations, often access SARC's 28-bed emergency shelter. SARC also offers free legal advocacy and representation as well as counseling services. Last year SARC served 2000 victims of violence.

In support of the many children who find themselves homeless and in crisis in Harford County, Harford Family House and SARC are partnering to raise critical funding through a Harford's Most Beautiful Baby Contest. & More Event. Families now make up 40 percent of the country's homeless population. Within these families, more than 1.3 million children are homeless at some time each year.
The typical homeless family is headed by a single mother, usually in her late twenties. She has with her two or three young children, typically preschoolers.
Homelessness affects people of all geographic areas, ages, occupations, and ethnicities but occurs disproportionately among people of color.
More than 90 percent of sheltered and low-income mothers have experienced physical and sexual assault over their lifespan.
